3. ZICATELA BEACH AND OCEAN SAFETY — IMPORTANT
Zicatela Beach is world-renowned for its powerful waves (the "Mexican Pipeline") and is considered one of the most dangerous beaches in the world for swimming. By staying at Casa Leah Puerto Escondido, you acknowledge that:
- Zicatela has strong rip currents that can carry even experienced swimmers hundreds of meters offshore in minutes.
- The shore break is violent and can knock people down, causing injury.
- Waves regularly reach 10–15 feet and can exceed 20 feet during the south swell season (June–September).
- Swimming at Zicatela is NOT recommended. The beach is for surfing (only for experienced surfers) and for watching the surf from the sand.
- Pay attention to flag signals: red (danger, do not enter the water), yellow (caution), green (safer).
- For safe swimming, we recommend nearby beaches: Carrizalillo, Manzanillo, and Puerto Angelito.
- If you wish to surf, do so only with certified instructors who know the conditions.
The Hotel is not responsible for accidents, injuries, or incidents occurring at the beach or in the ocean.
4. TOURS, ACTIVITIES, AND EXCURSIONS
Tours and excursions (Manialtepec lagoon, Chacahua, Huatulco, surf lessons, massages, etc.) are coordinated by independent third-party operators. The Hotel acts only as a referral. The Hotel is not responsible for the quality, safety, or fulfillment of these third-party services.
5. SOLICITORS AND THIRD PARTIES IN THE AREA
Aggressive timeshare salespeople occasionally operate in the Zicatela area, offering "free" tours or breakfasts in exchange for attending sales presentations. These are not affiliated with Casa Leah Puerto Escondido. You are not obligated to attend.
6. HEALTH AND SAFETY
- Guests are responsible for their own health, safety, and physical condition.
- Sun in Puerto Escondido is intense year-round; use sunscreen and stay hydrated.
- Property has stairs and uneven surfaces in some areas. Wear appropriate footwear.
7. NATURAL CONDITIONS
- Tropical storm season runs approximately June–October. Activities and the local power supply may be temporarily affected.
